Location

Phan Thiet – Mui Ne is located about 200 km west of Ho Chi Minh City. Phan Thiet City is the capital of Binh Thuan province, on the coast in Central Vietnam. The city has a population of about 400,000 and has a coastline of more than 60 kilometers.

The center of Phan Thiet City is around the public Doi Duong beach in Hung Long and Phu Thuy Wards. You can find shopping malls, lots of restaurants serving local specialty foods, and seafood dishes, some hotels, and resorts.

However, Phu Hai and Ham Tien Wards, which are near to many tourist attractions including Mui Ne Bay, Mui Ne Fishing Village, Fairy Stream, and Red Sand Dunes, are full of hundreds of resorts, hotels, and other accommodations, restaurants, shops, and stores and always crowded with tourists.

Mui Ne is a 12-km long sweeping bay, which has and transformed into a coastal fishing town and a ward of the city of Phan Thiet after 20 years of development (in 1999), and now one of the most crowded tourist destinations in Vietnam.

Mui Ne is often erroneously used as the general name for the main resort area in Phan Thiet along Mui Ne Bay including Phu Hai and Ham Tien wards. What is the best time to travel Phan Thiet – Mui Ne?

There are 2 seasons in Phan Thiet – Mui Ne: the dry and the rainy. However, the weather is different to other places in Central Vietnam such as Nha Trang, Hoi An.

Mui Ne seems to be dry all year and there is a little of rain. So that it is always great to do a trip to Phan Thiet – Mui Ne at any time of the year. According to local people, the months between August and April of the next year would be the perfect time to travel Phan Thiet – Mui Ne.

The beaches are the most beautiful with clear sky, vast blue water, yellow sand from December to April. Surfing lovers should be in Mui Ne from August and November when it tends to have big waves which are ideal for this sports activity.

How to go to Phan Thiet – Mui Ne?

It takes 3.5 – 4 hours to go from Ho Chi Minh City to Phan Thiet – Mui Ne by bus or train.

By bus

Mui Ne Beach (Rang Beach)

Features 15 km of sandy beaches, gentle waves, and luxurious beachfront resorts, Mui Ne Beach is a must for true beach lovers. Besides swimming, sunbathing, getting into water sports, relaxing at resorts, there are more great things to do, including visiting the traditional fishing village and kitesurfing which best to be enjoyed from November and March, when the skies are sunny with strong winds.

Mui Ne Fishing Village

Location: 7 km north of Mui Ne Town.

Coming to Mui Ne Fishing Village mentioned above, you can see expansive coastline lined with colorful fishing boats moored on the water and beautiful green swaying palm trees. The village is charming at any time of the day, including sunrise and sunset.

In the morning, the village is busy with fishermen who sort out and sell crabs, groupers, stingrays, scallops, and other seafood caught last night and people who come to buy the shore seafood. It is a chance for tourists to eat delicious dishes cooked from fresh seafood while enjoy the peaceful life and wonderful scenery there.

Fairy Stream

Location: Huynh Thuc Khang, Ham Tien, Phan Thiet – Mui Ne, 4 km from the center of Mui Ne

Fairy Stream has a dramatic landscape of many colors, including reds, oranges, pinks, whites, mixed wonderfully with the clear water from Ham Tien’s Dinh Mountain. On one side, the stream features white and red sand dunes while the other features blossoming flowers, verdant trees, and coconut palms.

The Fairy Stream is amazing enough to attract a large number of tourists coming for great photos, just walking, climbing the dunes or drinking and eating at bars and restaurants located upstream. It takes about 15 minutes walking to reach the most beautiful sight of Fairy Stream.

Ta Cu Moutain

Location of Ta Cu Mountain Entrance:  18 Nguyen Van Linh Street, Thuan Nam Town, Ham Thuan Nam District, Phan Thiet – Mui Ne; about 50 km south west of Mui Ne Town; 170 km from Ho Chi Minh City.

Ta Cu Moutain boasts 250,000 square meters of lush rainforests, rare wildlife, limestone caves, and a pagoda with ornate Buddhist structures. There are 2 ways to reach the top of the mountain: hiking through the jungle for 2-12 hours or riding a cable car for 15 minutes. The suspended cable system, 1,600m long and 500m high, was set up in Ta Cu Mountain Tourist Area that consists of 35 cable cars.

The second way provides a fabulous view of Ke Ga Lighthouse, Thuan Nam Town, Ham Thuan An Sea while the first give you an adventurous feeling. Built in 1879 and located atop Ta Cu Mountain, Linh Son Truong Tho Pagoda, and Long Doan Pagoda, the statue of lying Buddha are worth seeing.

Po Shanu Cham Towers

Location: on the top of Ong Hoang Hill, 15 km west of Mui Ne Town, 15-minute drive from Mui Ne Town.

Constructed in the 8th century by the Champa people to worship Hindu deities Lord Shiva, Agni, Nandi and today recognized as a national architectural and artistic site, the crumbling Po Shanu Cham Towers are modest remnants of the Champa empire which was a once successful civilization.

Po Shanu Cham towers attract visitors with not only being a historical site but also its unique, bewitched, and mysterious architecture. It consists of just two pointed towers and the third building that adjoins the more decorative constructions. Prince’s Castle

Location: on the top of Ong Hoang Hill, 15 km west of Mui Ne Town, 15-minute drive from Mui Ne Town.

Located on the top of Ong Hoang Hill and a few steps away from the Po Shanu Cham Towers, Prince’s Castle is a French estate house, built by Duke De Montpensier in 1911. The original structure covered 536 square meters but only an old tower and many military bunkers left.

Van Thuy Tu Temple

Van Thuy Tu temple is home to the skeletal remains of more than 100 whales, including 22-meter long whale skeleton, which is perhaps the biggest in Southeast Asia. You should spend at least 2 days in Phan Thiet – Mui Ne. You may spend the first day to see the attractions by yourself by taxi or motorbike or book a full day tour on which they take you to Fairy Stream, Red Sand Dunes, Po Sha Nu Towers, Van Thuy Tu Temple, Fishing Village.

You can be picked up at your hotels in Phan Thiet. There is also a full day Phan Thiet – Mui Ne tour from Ho Chi Minh City. The second and the next days are for enjoying the beach (swimming, sunbathing, kitesurfing, other sports activities).
