Vietnam Visa Exemption List

Most of the foreigners need a valid visa to stay in Vietnam. But it does not mean all need a Vietnam visa. Nationals holding popular passport of many countries which have signed bilateral or unilateral visa exemption agreement with Vietnam do not need to have a valid visa to stay in Vietnam for a certain period of time. Which nationals do not need a valid visa to stay in Vietnam? I am sharing with you the Vietnam Visa Exemption List and I hope your national is in the list.

Unconditional Vietnam visa exemption list

The citizens below:

  • Need to have their passport valid for at least 6 months prior to the arrival date to enter Vietnam;
  •  Be able to stay in Vietnam for their granted visa-free duration.

List of unilateral Vietnam visa waiver conditionally

The stay of the following citizens must meet the following condition:

  • Need to have their passport valid for at least 6 months prior to the arrival date to enter Vietnam;
  • The stay should be no longer than the granted duration;
  • The arrival date does not fall within 30 days following the exit date of the last stay in Vietnam.

Vietnam visa exemption policy for Phu Quoc Island visitors

Travelers who directly go to Phu Quoc Island are exempted from Vietnam visa for up to 30 days. If travelers would like to stay on the island for more than 30 days or continue traveling other regions of Vietnam, the Immigration Department will issue the visa for them there.

There are 3 options if you decide to stay in Vietnam longer than the exemption duration:

  • Apply for Vietnam e-visa (only available for citizens of 46 countries);
  • Apply for a visa approval letter online via a Vietnam visa center in order to get a visa on arrival;
  • Contact the nearest Vietnam embassy traditionally to apply for a visa.
