What is an electronic air ticket?

An electronic air ticket is issued in electronic form (like email or PDF form) which contains information for air tickets. Vietnam Airlines currently uses all e-tickets on all routes both domestic and international flights. E-tickets have value like paper tickets and the airlines are responsible to ensure that passengers with e-tickets can travel smoothly.

If your book with us, e-tickets are sent to you via fax or e-mail after issue, and then you can print them out and display them along with your travel document at the time of check-in.

What happens if I make a booking and then do not confirm or pay?

After your booking of the flights is made, it can be held for a limited time because of the availability of the seat as well as a policy of the airlines. After that time, if we do not still hear back from you, we will automatically cancel your reservation. If you booked the flights but choose a late payment method, we will inform the deadline for payment to you via email. If you do not make payment before and at this deadline, the booking will be also canceled.

What does the listed price include?

The ticket price listed on our website is the basic price only which is exclusive of tax & passenger service fee. The final prices will be shown on the confirmation page before you make the payment. Price is mostly calculated in US Dollars, except where noted otherwise. Also, our price includes baggage allowance.

When do I need to pay for my flights?

Some airline carriers allow us to keep bookings for a limited period of time before paying for the ticket and issuing it. However, to guarantee the seats, passengers should pay in full in advance. After receiving your payment, we will confirm and send the electronic air ticket directly to your summited email.

Your credit card will not be billed until we confirm the availability of the flights and confirm that you would like to purchase the ticket.

How can I pay for my tickets?

We offer different payment methods for both customers inside and outside of Vietnam, covering credit cards, cash, and bank transfer. For credit cards, you can either make payment directly on our site or request us to send a secure link to pay to you after ticket availability is confirmed via email or phone.

We admit most major credit cards such as Visa, Master and JCB. For cash, you can pay at our office or to our ticket delivery person, but this method is only applied to customers who are buying tickets within the borders of Vietnam. For bank transfer, we will offer you our banking information to transfer money after your ticket availability is confirmed.

Airport Check-In

All passengers must be at the airport at least 2 hours for domestic flights and 3 hours for international flights in advance of the stated departure time for check-in.

Please take into account traffic conditions, check-in wait time, and the immigration process when planning your travel to the airport. If the flight schedule is different from originally booked, check-in time will also change accordingly. Groups of families that wish to arrange seats together must arrive early to make special requests. Vietnam Airlines check-in counter closes 60 minutes before departure time.

Passengers who check-in after the closing time may risk flight cancellation or non-refundable tickets under specific booking conditions. Passengers who have checked in must be present at the departure gate at least 30 minutes before departure time or may risk seat cancellation.

Duty-Free

During the long boarding time, there is nothing better than walking around the duty-free store area and having last-minute shopping there. Although duty-free shops in Vietnam’s airports are not very diverse in products and brands, it will still give you an interesting shopping experience.

Vietnam duty-free allowance

The offered information is from the Official Vietnam Government Customs Website; remember to visit this website before flying to Vietnam to keep updated.

  • Cigars: 100; Cigarettes: 400; Tobacco: 100 gr; Liquor: 1.5 liters.
  • Jewelry and perfume and for personal use only.
  • Passengers can bring small gift items valued at not over US$ 300.

The declaration is required for the following cases:

  • Foreign currency of more than US$ 7000
  • Gold and jewelry are not for personal use.
  • Videotapes, DVDs, and CDs will be kept for screening within a few days.

Duty-free shops

While most international airports all over the world are packed with everything from business centers, and transit hotels to banks, ATMs, and huge shopping malls; the duty-free shop area in Vietnam airports is quite small with few services.

At Noi Bai International Airport, there are only shops selling handmade souvenirs, wines, local crafts, and a small cafeteria. However, at Tan Son Nhat International Airport, although many brands in the world are not represented here, tourists can still find kiosks stocking a wide range of tobacco, alcohol, perfume, fashion and accessories brands such as Bossini, Vietten, Gucci, D&G and An Phoc.

A showroom of Toshiba, Panasonic, and Samsung, and a selection of Hermes and Swatch are also available. There are some snack bars that offer good food and drinks and even a KFC restaurant.

What to know before you fly to Vietnam?

Being the most eastern country in Indochina, Vietnam is a resilient nation with a tumultuous history. Plagued by war for lots of years, Vietnam is deservedly at peace and moving forward as a bourgeoning tourist hotspot now. Influenced much by ancient China customs and Northern Buddhism, Vietnam is a place where ancient customs of oriental culture are still practiced. The unique traditional Vietnamese dishes are valued and a highlight for most travelers.

Ho Chi Minh City mixes tradition with modernity to create an unforgettable impression in the tourists’ hearts. Scooters stream past spice markets, ancient pagodas, and skyscrapers. This is also the city where there is accommodation best in Vietnam.

Luxury has a reasonable price tag here while guest houses offer an authentic Vietnamese experience. If you’re hunting for a bargain, wander through the bustling Ben Thanh Market where haggling is a must and people-watching is a highlight. Ho Cho Minh City, still affectionately known as Saigon, is also an attractive place to learn about Vietnam’s history of war. Visit the retro Reunification Palace and discover War Remnants Museum.

Vietnam’s Hanoi Capital is a little smaller and quieter than Ho Chi Minh City, but by no means is it a sad city. Here the streets still flow with an endless sea of motorbikes, while travelers and locals haggle in the countless streets of market stalls. History is also more prominent in Hanoi than in Ho Minh City, especially during the French colonization period which added touches of Parisian chic to the existing oriental flair of the city.

While staying in Hanoi, don’t miss walking across the iconic red bridge of the Rising Sun to Ngoc Son Pagoda. The One Pillared Pagoda and Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum are also attractions worth visiting.

Few travelers come to Vietnam without swimming at its magnificent beaches. One of the country’s biggest coastal hotspots is Nha Trang, which is located on the south coast. Beloved for its turquoise waters and grass beach huts, Nha Trang is an urbanized beach town well equipped for travelers and an abustle hub for scuba diving. For something a little less crowded, Mui Ne is a beautiful beach town complete with swaying palm trees, pristine sand, and luxury resorts. To explore some of the country’s more secluded islands and beaches, consider a Vietnam tour.

Best Time to Book Cheap Vietnam Domestic Flights

Air travel is a popular choice to come to Vietnam. Many travelers traveling to Vietnam have a specific budget and mostly consider ways to get cheap flight tickets. Our travel guide has information and tips which you might find helpful to choose the best way and the best time to book cheap flights to Vietnam.

Airlines with flights to Vietnam

Because of the huge demand for many overseas Vietnamese and foreign tourists, there are now many flights to Vietnam from various parts of the world. Regarding Vietnamese air travel service providers, at the present, Vietnam Airlines is on the top list for its highly dependable service and a large number of international flights operated daily.

Not only are there many flights from Asian countries such as Japan, Korea, and China to Vietnam but the airline also operates many direct flights from Europe linking major cities like Paris and London. In addition, America and Australia are also in Vietnam Airlines’ route network with flights to Hanoi City and Ho Chi Minh City.

Many flights at lower fares require transits or layovers; however, they are quite good for getting around and taking a break on a long trip.

For cheap price airlines, Vietjet Air has recently opened its network operating flights within Asia. The flight ticket of this airline is lower than that of Vietnam Airlines, which is an advantage for Vietjet because it meets the budget demand of many people. In addition, Jetstar Pacific is another trusted airline brand in Vietnam with many cheap flights to Vietnam.

The downside of these budgeted airlines is that they are often delayed or you might have your flight changed and announced a few hours prior to scheduled departure because of late aircraft arrival. If you have free time and don’t have the high possibility of this downside, using these budgeted airlines could make a difference in airfares.

And if you need to travel on a long flight, check out these ideas on how to spend time during a flight.

International Airports in Vietnam

There are 11 international airports in Vietnam, and the biggest ones are Noi Bai International Airport in Ha Noi Capital, Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City, and Da Nang International Airport – the main airport in Central Vietnam. Phu Quoc Airport on Phu Quoc Island is also another busy airport in Vietnam; however, it operates fewer international flights than the above 3 mentioned.

Best Time to Travel to Vietnam

Knowing when to travel to Vietnam not only allows you to have the best experience and prepare well, like what to pack but also gives you information on when to book the flight ticket.

Vietnam has 3 different climatic regions and it is difficult to choose a perfect time of the year for the whole country. However, the time from November to April is the most popular time to travel. The North and the Central have cool weather in autumn (July to September) and cold days in winter (October to December) to refreshing spring from January to March. This is also the best time to travel to the South as it is during the dry season. Many people choose to come to Vietnam this time due to the Tet holiday or the snowy winter in Sapa.

Tips to Get Cheap Flights to Vietnam

  • As mentioned above, there are lots of airlines operating flights to Vietnam and to have the best deal you should look at them all before selecting one airline to go. Cost-wise, you should select a budget airline instead of a full-service airline and consider paying only for services needed, such as baggage allowance, insurance, seat selections, and meals.
  • The international tourism season in Vietnam is between November and April while the domestic tourism season includes Tet Holiday (January – February), summer starting from early June to late August, and other Vietnamese holidays like Vietnam Independence Day and Vietnam Reunification Day. The flight ticket at the peak of the season is much higher so you had better book the tickets in the offseason. With that information, March and April, or September and October are the best months to book cheap flights to Vietnam.
  • You had better book the tickets 3 months in advance. That is perhaps the best tip to have the lowest fares for everyone planning to travel somewhere. Midweek booking and avoiding booking flights during office hours and weekends (early morning and late evening) are also useful tips for booking cheap flights to Vietnam.
  • Booking the airline tickets yourself instead of via an agency is also able to save you some money like the payment for the service fee.
  • You are able to subscribe to your favorite or budget airlines because they will send discount and promotion information to your email on a regular basis.
  • Two one-way tickets are usually cheaper than a return ticket, so consider buying them, even from 2 different airlines, to save money. When our team members travel domestically, we usually save on average about USD 20 – 30 for the roundtrip by booking with different airlines scouting different flight times on the same day.
  • Last but not least, there are some places in the world which offer destination deals having many cheap flights to encourage other tourism services like shopping and hotels.
