Detailed Itinerary of 2-Day Mekong Delta Tour – Cai Be Cai Lay
Day 1: Ho Chi Minh City – Cai Be – Tan Phong Island (Cai Lay District)
Our tour guide will pick you up at your hotel in Ho Chi Minh City at about 7:00. We will next head towards Cai Be District, Tien Giang Province.
Reaching Cai Be at 9:30, we will first visit Cai Be Cao Dai Temple – a unique religion in this region, and the Cai Be Catholic Church. Afterward, you will get on the boat and transfer to visit both the land market and the floating market in Cai Be, where our local tour guide will introduce you to agricultural products. You will also have a chance to buy some ingredients to prepare for dinner. Leaving the markets, you will embark on the boat to transfer to Tan Phong Island in Cai Lay. After that, you will check in your homestay and enjoy lunch at the hotel restaurant.
Cai Be Church – one of the stops on 2-Day Mekong Delta Tour – Cai Be Cai Lay
In the afternoon, you will participate in the locals’ daily activity of “ditch fishing hook”. What a great experience when you can catch fish from the Mekong Delta for your dinner! After finishing the activity, you will return to Tan Phong Island and relax at your homestay.
In the late afternoon, you will help the local chefs in the homestay to prepare dishes for dinner. You will enjoy dinner and stay overnight at Tan Phong homestay.
Day 2: Tan Phong Island – Ho Chi Minh city
After breakfast is served at the homestay, you will take a cycling tour to discover Tan Phong Island. you will then visit the traditional handicraft workshops of rice papers, and handbags along with wooden tables and chairs. If it is on schooldays, you will also have an opportunity to make friends with local cute and gentle pupils in a village school. After that, you will stop at a local farmer’s house to savor a cup of tea and local specialties of banana candies. You can try plucking the fruits in the host’s garden and talk to him to know how local farmers take care of their gardens.
