4 Days Downstream Phnom Penh Saigon on RV Bassac Pandaw Cruise: In the early morning, we will sail to the Vietnam border for formalities and during this stationary period, there will be an optional tour of the working ship and fruit carving classes on deck. In the afternoon, we will discover the labyrinthine canal system around Tan Chau to visit a Taoist temple where the monks will read fortunes.

Day 1: Phnom Penh

Activities: Embarking the ship by lunchtime, exploring the city on your own.

We will embark on the ship between 12:30 and no later than 13:30, as we will need your passport to process the immigration formalities for the border crossing. You will be free to discover the quayside or relax on the ship from 13:30 to 15:00. All guests must be aboard by 15:00 ready to set sail. We will cruise toward the Vietnam border. We will spend the night at the border on the Cambodian side.

Day 2: Tan Chau

Activities: Early sailing to the Vietnam border, discovering the labyrinthine canal system around Tan Chau to visit a Taoist temple

In the early morning, we will sail to the Vietnam border for formalities and during this stationary period, there will be an optional tour of the working ship and fruit carving classes on deck. In the afternoon, we will discover the labyrinthine canal system around Tan Chau to visit a Taoist temple where the monks will read fortunes. We will continue through local villages by Xe Loi ( a type of rickshaw with a bicycle in front of it.) stopping off to help locals tend their fields before stopping off to visit a fish farm and earn merit by releasing fish back into the Mekong.

Day 3: Con Phuoc Island

Activities: Sailing up a small canal to moor off Con Phuoc Island and go ashore to dícover the island by tuk-tuk seeing basket production and visiting a 100-year-old Catholic Church, visit Gao Giong green oasis with its bird sanctuary
In the morning, we will visit the Island of Con Phuoc to dícover the island by tuk-tuk seeing basket production and visiting a 100-year-old Catholic Church and local woodworking artisans. After a short cruise downstream, we will take a short coach trip where we will visit Gao Giong ‘green oasis’ with its bird sanctuary. Here, we will get to see a diverse selection of water birds and egrets that gather in the tens of thousands across the Duong Tharp Muoi or ‘Plain of Reeds’. We will take rowing boats through the canals to take us to see the principal nesting areas.

Day 4: My Tho – Saigon

Activities: traveling by sampans through mangroves and bamboo groves to the fruit orchards of Ben Tre, cruising to My Tho, disembarking, arriving at the hotel

In the morning, we will take a cruise downstream to Ben Tre. Where we will travel by sampans through mangroves and bamboo groves to the fruit orchards of Ben Tre. These local artisans are at work and invite visitors into their homes for tea, fruit, and honey products made from their own honey. This is an area rich in bird life and on our return trip, we will travel through the lush countryside. In the morning, we will moor at My Tho for a road transfer to Saigon.
