Day 1: Phnom Penh

Activities: Embarking the ship in the afternoon, spending the afternoon at leisure.

Day 2: Silk Island

Activities: Visiting Silk island

We will have an easy morning in Phnom Penh, with its café life and many smart boutiques. After lunch, we will sail up the Tonle River to Koh Nghe Tei (Silk Island) to study the entire silk-making process, from worms to weavers. We will visit silk makers and be able to buy their lovely silk scarves and other fabrics. This village is the heart of the unique ancient martial art of L’bokator, which roughly translates as “pounding a lion.” It includes weapons techniques, is one of the oldest combat techniques in Cambodia, and is thought to date back to the Angkor empire.

Day 3: Tonle Sap – Ou Dong – Prek Kdam

Activities: Sailing further up the Tonle River to Prek Kdam and traveling by coach to the ancient capital of Cambodia, Oudong

We will sail further up the Tonle River to Prek Kdam and travel by coach to the ancient capital of Cambodia, Oudong. On the way, we will stop to visit the Vipassana Dhura Meditation heart for meditation before taking a drive around the old capital. We will rejoin our ship at Kompong Trollach. After lunch, we will travel on an ox-carts ride to visit river-side villages, markets, and temples. In the evening, cocktails are around a village fire pit where we will be joined to perform traditional dances with the villagers.

Day 4: Kamphon Chhnang – Tonle Sap

Activities: Dícovering floating villages and markets

The navigation of the web of tight channels as we approach the mouth of the Tonle Sap is a highlight of any Mekong journey. From Kampong Chhnang, we will embark on country boats to discover floating villages and markets, and observe fisheries and aquatic horticulture. Back on land at Kampong Chhnang, we will be able to walk the riverbank to see the towering stilt houses.

Day 5: Kampong Chhnang – Siem Reap

Activities: Disembarking the cruise

We will disembark and go by coach from Kampong Chhnang through stunningly lovely countryside to arrive in Siem Reap, adjacent to Angkor Wat.
