DAY 3 – Cam Ranh
Begin the day with a visit to the impressive Po Nagar Temple Tower, which dates from the 8th century. This one-of-a-kind construction is a symbol of Hindu Champa culture and a place of devotion for people of all faiths.
Travel down a small local alleyway to the home of a boat maker, where passengers will embark a riverboat. Float across gorgeous scenery, a boatyard where fishing boats are made, and a picturesque fleet at a fishing community. The time spent on the boat, flowing pleasantly down the river, is without a doubt the highlight of the journey. Visit a family that makes traditional clay stoves and another who weaves rush mats for a livelihood after disembarking. Visit a vibrant neighborhood market and a nearby school (closed on Sunday and public holidays).
Drive to lunch, pausing along the way to view and photograph the farmers and buffaloes at work (season dependent). Lunch is served in a fantastic restaurant housed in a “old mansion” on the banks of a quiet and magnificent lotus pond. Return to the hotel after lunch. (L)
