See Viet Nam from a different angle, by three-wheeled cyclo!

Viet Nam is a country full of wonders and tourists who discover can witness its hidden gems. For a unique perspective, ICT suggests tourists try and discover Viet Nam by cyclo – an adventure in itself! There is no better way to get up close and personal with the hustle and bustle of Vietnam’s cities.

WHAT IS A CYCLO?

A cyclo is a three-wheeled, human-powered means of transport used to transport passengers or goods. It usually has one or two seats for guests and one for the driver. The driver operates it like a regular bicycle. The advantages of cyclo are being comfortable, not taking up too much space, and being very suitable for the crowded streets and alleys of the city. According to researchers, the cyclo was born in the 1920s. It appeared in Saigon in 1936 and gradually became popular here.

VIET NAM BY CYCLO BEFORE

Before 2000, Vietnamese people use cyclos mostly for cargo, goods, short transfers, and deliveries. It is not strange to see cyclos transporting loads of goods, including quite large or unusually shaped objects from long metal poles and bamboo, to household furniture and more – almost anything can go on a cyclo!

VIET NAM BY CYCLO TODAY

The cyclo is a unique transportation form, an iconic image of Viet Nam, and represents the Vietnamese way of life. Traveling with cyclo in the city is very interesting for travelers, as the leisurely pace is slow enough to see the sights and take lots of pictures and videos. Even more importantly, travelers feel safe in the busy traffic of Ho Chi Minh or Ha Noi, and is much better for the environment than motorbikes or cars. For these reasons, it is now very favorite for travelers to discover Viet Nam by cyclo.

SUMMARY

When you travel to Vietnam, you should try the traditional cyclo at least once. This is an interesting way to see the cities from different angles and experience local Vietnamese life. You will help the environment and preserve the cyclo as a cultural icon of Viet Nam. Also, you can take some great pictures and videos of your adventure.
