Detail itinerary of Ho Chi Minh City & Cu Chi Tunnels Tour Full Day:

In the morning, you will be picked up at your hotel and start your amazing trip around Ho Chi Minh City. The first stop is the Reunification (Independence) Palace – the former residence of South Vietnam’s President Ngo Dinh Diem. There you will see a tank belonging to the North Vietnamese Army crashed through the main gate of the palace, ended the Vietnam War in April 1975. Lush gardens, antique furniture, secret rooms, and a command bunker are the highlights of the Independence Palace.

Then we will continue the tour, visit two of the most beautiful French architectural works and the must-see tourist attractions in the city: Notre Dame Cathedral and Central Post Office. Completed in 1880, Notre Dame Cathedral has a lovely garden where the Virgin Mary statue is believed to shed tears in 2005, two 57.6-m-high bell towers, and six bronze bells with the total weight of 28.85 tons. Especially, most of the materials were brought from abroad (France, Italy). The bricks and stained glass windows have survived amazingly until today. Designed by the famous architect Gustave Eiffel and opened in 1891, the Central Post Office looks like a European railway station from the distant view.

We continue visiting War Remnants Museum which has made hundreds of Western people shed their tears due to the display of war crimes. The museum is home to a vast display of the both the Indochina wars, massive military vehicles, tiger cages for keeping prisoners.

After seeing most of the attractions in the city center, we will have lunch with delicious foods and take a rest. Then we head to Ben Dinh site in Cu Chi where we will start exploring the unique Cu Chi Tunnels. It is a chance for you to escape from the hustle and bustle Ho Chi Minh, relax on the way from Saigon to Cu Chi. On the way, you can see the nice view of South Vietnam’s countryside.

At first, you will spend your time watching a documentary film about Cu Chi Tunnels and the Vietnam War. Then it is time for inspecting the tunnel site, visiting the gates, traps, underground hospitals, worship rooms, kitchens and bunkers, and many other interesting things. One of the highlights is Hoang Cam stove, which was named after its inventor, diffused and dissipated smoke from cooking. On display are booby traps, the remains of a US army tank and huge craters left by American B52 bombs. You will be able to admire lots of compelling photos and personal effects left behind. Our guide will tell you about heart-broken war history and information about the tunnels including less-known stories.

The most exciting part of your trip is going through a section of the tunnel. In fact, the original tunnels are wet, dark, stuffy, and about 0.5 – 1 m wide, just enough for one person to go through. The sections of tunnels were expanded to accommodate tourists. Some sections are lightened with lights but some are not. You will be surprised and understand the clever and heroic characters of Cu Chi as well as Vietnamese locals and soldiers who could live in the tunnels in bad conditions with low light, heat, humidity, and lack of air for some months, even a few years. You can also try firing M-16, AK-47 and carbine rifle at the National Defence Sports Shooting Range.

On the way back, we will stop at Vuon Cau restaurant where we serve you the famous Sugar cane juice with mung bean – a specialty drink of Cu Chi. Most travel agencies do not take you to this local place and this is a huge plus and makes our tour different from others of its kind.

After a long day visiting the attractions, you will be returned to your hotel, tour ends with lots of fun and memories.

If you would like to see the city in a different way, on the back of a motorbike, you can book our Ho Chi Minh City Tour by Motorbike.
