      What to do in Vung Tau?

      Thich Ca Phat Dai

      This is a large pagoda located on the mountainside of Vung Tau city. The pagoda is a very skillful combination of religious architecture and natural landscape, which gives it a unique beauty. In particular, the pagoda has an octagonal tower and a statue of Shakyamuni Buddha meditating on a 19-meter-high lotus, erected in the middle of the mountain, which visitors can see from afar.

      Christ statue

      The statue of Jesus Christ standing on the top of the Small Mountain (Nui Nho) of Vung Tau City was built in 1974. This statue is 32 m high, 18.3 m long arm span, standing at a height of 170 m overlooking the sea. There is a staircase inside with 133 steps.

      Vung Tau’s beaches

      Vung Tau has four main beaches – Front Beach, Back Beach, Pineapple Beach and Paradise Beach. The most popular is Front Beach (Bãi Trước), which for many is enough reason to stay away. If you would like to enjoy the poetic seascape and tranquility, just simply come here.

      White Palace

      In 1898, Governor General of Indochina Paul Doumer built Bach Dinh (Villa Blanche), where Phuoc Thang fortress was located, where the Vietnamese army burned down a French warship nearly 50 years ago. Bach Dinh was built according to Roman architecture and has 3 floors, and a height of 19 m. The back of the villa is against Big Mountain (Small Mountain). There are currently 19 cannons stored here.

      Relic Dinh Thang Tam

      Dinh Thang Tam Vung Tau is the place to worship the three captains of the residential cluster of Phuoc Thang village who protected the Vietnamese merchant ships according to the decree of King Gia Long. This place has witnessed many struggles for the independence of the people of Phuoc Thang village and is also a precious historical relic of the Vietnamese nation.

      Vung Tau lighthouse

      Vung Tau Lighthouse is an extremely attractive Vung Tau tourist destination. Located at a height of 170m, the lighthouse has a round tower shape, 18m high, covered with delicate white paint, striking against the blue sky. The place is surrounded by beautiful green trees. France built this site in 1862 to signal and guide ships through. The lighthouse is considered the oldest of the 79 lighthouses in Vietnam and is the symbol of the coastal city of Vung Tau.

      Niet Ban Tinh Xa

      Reclining Buddha (Niet  Ban Tinh Xa), also known as the Temple of the Reclining Buddha (Chua Phat Nam), is considered the most beautiful pagoda in Vung Tau. The pagoda was built by the monk Thich Thien Hue from 1969 – 1974 on the slopes of Nho mountain, in the center of Bai Dua, behind is a large sala forest, and in front is the immense sea.
