What To Expect on Small Group Can Gio Day Tour – Vam Sat Mangrove Forest?
Beginning with picking you up at your Saigon hotel, we will make the trip to Can Gio – Vam Sat in an air-conditioned vehicle, a roughly 1.5-hour drive. Upon arrival in Can Gio, we will take a rowing trip along an immense river to find a thriving colony of large fruit bats. During the bird breeding season of November through May, you will continue to take a walk into the nearby bird reserve, where you will be able to climb a watchtower to spot thousands of birds. This area is rich in biodiversity, with over 200 species of animals, and more than 52 species of plants, and your guide will keep the focus on the natural world throughout the tour. We will stop for lunch at a nearby restaurant, then take a walk to a crocodile lake to watch for crocodiles in the water, and try to spot the wild monkeys that sometimes appear at the edge of the forest. After visiting the crocodile lake, we will make the return trip to Saigon/Ho Chi Minh City, where this tour ends with a drop-off at your hotel. Note: During the non-breeding season of April through October, we will learn about local salt production rather than visit the bird reserve.

Can Gio Mangrove Biosphere Reserve
Listed in the World Network of Biosphere Reserves by UNESCO, Can Gio is one of the most important wetlands of Vietnam, home to over 200 species of fauna and 52 species of flora. This experience is part of our eco-tour. We will depart from Saigon and head straight to Can Gio.
In Can Gio – Vam Sat, we will take the canoe trip along the immense river to go to the bat area. Here you will board a rowing boat to discover the natural landscape and its inhabitants such as the large bats. A short walk will take you to the nearby bird reserve during the nesting season where a watchtower will allow you to observe thousands of birds flying around. We will enjoy lunch at a local eco restaurant. After lunch, we will keep walking to the natural crocodile lake. While out of the lake, sometimes, you may find wild monkeys jumping out from the forest.
