Tam Thanh Mural Village (Làng Bích Họa Tam Thanh) in Quang Nam Province is the first mural village om Vietnam. This is the Vietnam – Korea Art Community Joint Project, about 130 mural paintings was painted on the walls of concrete houses in the village by dozens of Korean students and artists.

The village is about 7 km from Tam Ky City, it is located on the bank of Truong Giang River and had access to the sea.

Vietnam – Korea Art Community Joint Project
In June 2016, dozens of Korean volunteers came to the village and drew more than 100 mural paintings on walls of over 100 houses in the village. Although the weather was hot, Korean painters and students finished a large number of paintings after 20 days.
Oh Ye Seul – a 25-year-old Korean freelance painter has joined many Mural painting projects, drawn lots of paintings and made videos. She registered for the project at Tam Thanh Village in order to visit Vietnam, explore new things, and learn more about the local life. She said: “I have heard about Vietnam on television, but I am fascinated and impressed by the beautiful sights and Vietnamese people. The locals are indigenous and friendly”.
According to the volunteers, they chose Tam Thanh because of the high density of houses and local people on the beach.
People in the villages were happy to have their walls painted. Some paintings depict the hosts and hottest. Children ran around, saw how painters create amazing artworks.
On 28th June 2016, the People’s Committee of Quang Nam Province, Korean Embassy and some non-governmental organizations announce the inauguration of Vietnam – Korea Art Community Joint Project.
Three years later, Korean painters came back to the village, drew more than 30 paintings and repainted 50 houses.
Tam Thanh Mural Village and tourism
Inspired by famous mural villages in Korea, this project was expected to promote tourism and raise public awareness of protecting the environment.
The less-known Tam Thanh Village has become the first mural village in Vietnam. It has attracted a large number of tourists after four months.
The government of Tam Ky City organized to draw on more than 200 basket boats which are exhibited on the street and the beach.
The mural paintings and boats, beautiful landscapes, peaceful life and indigenous local people have helped bring tourism to Tam Thanh Village. Every day, Tam Thanh Village welcomes thousands of tourists. Fishermen have become vendors, homestays and guesthouses.
