Cai Rang Floating Market is located about 6 km from the center of Can Tho city and it takes about 30 minutes to cruising on boat from Ninh Kieu Wharf. In the past, this floating market is one of the main markets in the region because boats are main means of transportation in Mekong Delta. Locals gather on boats, sampans… on the river to sell and buy a wide range of products, foods and drinks… Nowadays, although land markets become more and more popular, the floating market still exists and becomes a worth-visiting tourist attraction. Each seller on his boat usually sells a kind of product. In front of the boat, the product is hung so that buyers can see it from far away. The market is the most crowded from 7:00 am to 8:00 am. Hopping on a boat to exploring Cai Rang Floating Market, tourists have a chance to enjoy fresh air, feel relaxing and learn more about this unique business. Do not miss buying some fresh fruits and ordering some traditional foods from friendly sellers on the river.
2. Ninh Kieu Wharf
Coming to Can Tho, tourists shouldn’t miss Ninh Kieu wharf which is the most romantic and peaceful place in the city. During the war period, the old Ninh Kieu port at the crossroads of Hau and Can Tho river was very busy and crowded. Nowadays, it becomes more peaceful and romantic place where many people come to relax, calm themselves or enjoy delicious meals at floating restaurants. At Ninh Kieu wharf in the heart of Can Tho, you will have a chance to see boats with a wide range of farm products, seafood and specialties from Mekong Delta which will be transferred to other regions. People can take a boat to cruise beautiful rivers and reach Cai Rang floating market.

Stepping into the amazing world of colorful fruits, enjoying the fresh air and plugging fruits yourself are top things to do in Can Tho. There you can see many animals such as chickens, ducks, pigs and fishes… It’s a good idea to stay at a homestay or mini hotel which is located in the garden. My Khanh and Ba Lang tourist gardens are also worth visiting and staying overnight in Can Tho.
4. Tay Do Night Market (or Ancient Can Tho Market)
Located about 1 km from Can Tho center, Ancient Can Tho Market was the busiest and the most beautiful market in South Vietnam. This market is as old as the famous Ben Thanh Market and Binh Tay Market in Ho Chi Minh City. At night, the market is more and more romantic and colorful with hundreds of electrical lights and the cool wind from the river. Just walk around, see products and interact with sellers and tourists, you will immerse yourself into local life in the biggest city in Mekong Delta.
5. Bang Lang Stork Sanctuary
Couldn’t be missed in the list of Top Things to Do in Can Tho, Bang Lang Stork Sanctuary could only be visiting by boat. This 15-hectare sanctuary is home to a wide range of storks. In spring, you can admire the beauty of purple roses of India along two sides of rivers there. It’s the reason why they call it Rose of India Stork Sanctuary (Bang Lang is meaning Rose of India in Vietnamese). Early morning and sunset are the best time to see thousands of storks fly out to find foods and return to the sanctuary. Do not miss the wildlife at Bang Lang Stork Sanctuary.
6. Binh Thuy Ancient House
Binh Thuy Ancient House is located on Bui Huu Nghia Street, Binh Thuy Ward, Binh Thuy District. Built in 1870 in French style by Duong family, this ancient house architecture and material still remain until today. The house is 22 m wide and 16 m height. There are 6 lines with 24 black and shining wooden columns whose diameter is about 30 cm. It’s built in a 6,000-square-meter area. Terracotta is installed in the front yard.
