Can Tho – the biggest city in Mekong Delta, South Vietnam is one of the most perfect destinations in Vietnam. Mother Nature gives Can Tho good condition for living and growing fruits and rice. The city is known as the pearl of the Mekong Delta with beautiful landscapes and buildings. It also has many facilities for tourists so that most of the visitors stay there for at least 1 day. 1. Cai Rang Floating Market

Cai Rang Floating Market is located about 6 km from the center of Can Tho city and it takes about 30 minutes to cruising on boat from Ninh Kieu Wharf. In the past, this floating market is one of the main markets in the region because boats are main means of transportation in Mekong Delta. Locals gather on boats, sampans… on the river to sell and buy a wide range of products, foods and drinks… Nowadays, although land markets become more and more popular, the floating market still exists and becomes a worth-visiting tourist attraction. Each seller on his boat usually sells a kind of product. In front of the boat, the product is hung so that buyers can see it from far away. The market is the most crowded from 7:00 am to 8:00 am. Hopping on a boat to exploring Cai Rang Floating Market, tourists have a chance to enjoy fresh air, feel relaxing and learn more about this unique business. Located about 1 km from Can Tho center, Ancient Can Tho Market was the busiest and the most beautiful market in South Vietnam. This market is as old as the famous Ben Thanh Market and Binh Tay Market in Ho Chi Minh City. At night, the market is more and more romantic and colorful with hundreds of electrical lights and the cool wind from the river. Just walk around, see products and interact with sellers and tourists, you will immerse yourself into local life in the biggest city in Mekong Delta.

5. Bang Lang Stork Sanctuary

Couldn’t be missed in the list of Top Things to Do in Can Tho, Bang Lang Stork Sanctuary could only be visiting by boat. This 15-hectare sanctuary is home to a wide range of storks. In spring, you can admire the beauty of purple roses of India along two sides of rivers there. It’s the reason why they call it Rose of India Stork Sanctuary (Bang Lang is meaning Rose of India in Vietnamese). Early morning and sunset are the best time to see thousands of storks fly out to find foods and return to the sanctuary. Do not miss the wildlife at Bang Lang Stork Sanctuary.

6. Binh Thuy Ancient House

Binh Thuy Ancient House is located on Bui Huu Nghia Street, Binh Thuy Ward, Binh Thuy District. Built in 1870 in French style by Duong family, this ancient house architecture and material still remain until today. The house is 22 m wide and 16 m height. There are 6 lines with 24 black and shining wooden columns whose diameter is about 30 cm. It’s built in a 6,000-square-meter area. Terracotta is installed in the front yard. There are bonsais and an 8-meter 40-year-old cactus from Mexico in front of the house. Fruits are grown in the backyard. The Binh Thuy Ancient House is always cool although the weather is sometimes very hot in the city. With beautiful architecture, the long-standing Binh Thuy Ancient House is worth visiting on your trip to Can Tho.

Can Tho is the destination you shouldn’t miss in Mekong Delta with lots of things to do. It’s better to visit Can Tho in the dry season. If you visit Can Tho on April or December in the lunar calendar, you will have a chance to see Thuong Dien Festival and Ha Dien Festival.
