Itinerary of 3 Days Mekong Delta from Ho Chi Minh
Day 1: Ho Chi Minh City – My Tho City (Tien Giang Province) – Can Tho Province (Lunch)
First, we will pick you up at your accommodation and there will be a short introduction about the tour guide, driver, and tour program. Hoping on the private car, you will just relax and enjoy the beauty of nature and Vietnam’s countryside. Certainly, the guide will note some great places and tell you interesting stories about the region.
On arrival at My Tho – one of the oldest cities in Mekong Delta, we will stop at Vinh Trang Pagoda – one of the most beautiful and charming sacred places in Tien Giang Province. Next, we will take a fun motorboat on peaceful rivers. We will cruise through the lovely Bao Dinh natural canal. Being on Tien River and viewing the unique Dragon, Unicorn, Phoenix and Tortoise islands are great parts of this tour.
It is time for you to ride a bicycle around quiet villages, learn more about the local life by visiting a coconut candy mill. Sitting on a hand-rowed sampan under the shadow of the water coconut trees is perhaps one of the most beautiful memories in your life.
You will get to stop at a local house, sip some honey tea and enjoy some fresh seasonal fruits while listening to the traditional Southern Vietnamese folk music (Don Ca Tai Tu).
At lunchtime, we will stop at a local restaurant and be served amazing specialty foods.
After a great time in My Tho, you will be transferred to the center of Can Tho City.
Stay overnight at a good hotel in Can Tho City.
Day 2: Can Tho Province – Chau Doc City (An Giang Province) (Breakfast, Lunch)
In the early morning, you will leave the hotel for the boat station where we start the journey on the river. Our boat will join the boats at Cai Rang Floating Market – one of the biggest and most famous floating markets in the Mekong Delta. Diverse fruits and vegetables are sold popularly on the boats. They hang what they sell on dried bamboo or wooden trees to let people know about their products. In addition, you are welcome to order a bowl of noodle soup or a cup of coffee from vendors on boats.
Continuing the boat ride, we will cruise along the river and small canals, then reach a rice noodle making village. You will see how they make Hu Tieu noodles traditionally and interact with the local people. You will also have a chance to pass the Monkey Bride which is usually narrow, swinging, and made from bamboo or wood. We also visit Phong Dien District with picturesque landscapes, lush orchard gardens, and nice villages.
We will have time for lunch and relaxing at a local restaurant.
The driver will drive to Chau Doc City in An Giang Province, and the next stop will be Tra Su Forest with a wild bird sanctuary and a large number of mangrove trees. The cruise in the forests, through splendid canals is stunning and amazing thanks to the fabulous scenery, and different types of animals including storks, cranes, and other tropical birds.
After immersing yourself in the green nature, you will get to Sam Mountain and Cave Pagoda (if we have enough time).
At the end of the day, we will check in the hotel and spend overnight in Chau Doc.
Day 3: Chau Doc City (An Giang Province) – Phnompenh (Breakfast)
We will enjoy breakfast at your hotel in the morning before going to the boat station where you start the journey to Phnom Penh.
