On 28th December 2017, the old Saigon Bus Operation Station in front of Ben Thanh Market was replaced by the new Saigon Bus Operation Station on Ham Nghi Street. The new is only a few minute walk from the old so that the change does not affect passengers. Ben Thanh Bus Station is officially named Saigon Bus Operation Station but it is commonly named after the famous Ben Thanh Market. In recent, this is one of the biggest and most important public bus hub where passengers including locals and visitors catch more than 30 buses to different districts of the city. The two most popular buses to travelers include Bus No. 159 to Tan Son Nhat Airport and Bus No. 1 to Saigon China Town – a must-do in the city.

Location: Ham Nghi Street, Nguyen Thai Binh Ward, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City. The bus station is bordered by Highway 13, Nguyen Xi, Dinh Bo Linh Streets. History
In 1956, the bus station in front of Ben Thanh was built and commonly called Ben Thanh Bus Station, functioned as a public bus operation station. It has played an important part in the public transportation system of the city. This bus station, Quach Thi Trang Square and Tran Nguyen Han Statue, Ben Thanh Market is a famous complex in the center of the city.
In 1997, the bus station was officially called Saigon Bus Operation Station.
A part of 23/9 Park functioned as the temporary Saigon Bus Operation Station from 2010 to 2017. On 1st October 2013, some bus routes through the bus station were moved to the bus station at 23/9 Park.
In 2017, the old Saigon Bus Operation Station was replaced by the new Saigon Bus Operation Station on Ham Nghi Street due to the construction of Ho Chi Minh City Metro Line 1 (Ben Thanh – Suoi Tien).
On 28th December 2017, the grand opening of the new Saigon Bus Operation Station was announced after a 2-month construction. The new is only 240 m from the old so that the change does not impact Saigon passengers who usually take buses at this bus station.
Later, Saigon Bus Operation Station and Ben Thanh Bus Station refer to the same bus station on Ham Nghi Street.

Saigon Bus Operation Station is a total area of 5,600 m2, a length of 200 m and a width of 28 m. The construction cost of the station is VND 8.5 billion.
There are about 33 bus routes (23 percent of the total bus routes in Ho Chi Minh City), more than 4,700 buses serving 152,000 passengers through this bus station.
Ben Thanh Bus Operation Station owns four 48 m bus stops and eight 6 m bus stops on Ham Nghi Street. At each bus stop, there are benches and shelters.
Ben Thanh Bus Station has 4 public solar self-cleaning toilets with an emergency alert system. The security camera system collects transport data and increases safety in the area. So that pickpockets and snatch thieves are aware of stealing in this area.
The station equips 2 information columns connecting Internet and data center, providing information about the public transportation system of the city and news. 12 displays connecting with Internet and data center provide bus route numbers, arrival time, the distance between the current location and the nearest bus station, make it more comfortable for bus passengers.
