  • Learn about the Ho Chi Minh Trail by pedaling down it and hearing accounts about how it was used to supply supplies to Viet Cong soldiers.
  • Visit well-known military sites: See the Vinh Moc tunnels, Khe Sanh’s former fighting base, and the ‘Rockpile’ vantage point as memories of the Vietnam-American conflict.
  • See the natural splendor of Central Vietnam: The four-day journey traverses through lagoons, beaches, rice paddies, towns, and mountains, demonstrating the richness of Central Vietnam’s sceneries.

Itinerary of The DMZ Cycling Vietnam Tour

DAY 1 – Hue – Dong Ha

Transfer from hotel to out of town: 30 mins Cycling distance up to: 70km Difficulty: Medium

Begin the tour by meeting the guide (at the hotel), then take a short transport out of town. The cycling path begins along the peninsula between the lagoon of Pha Tam Giang and the shore. The trip is breathtaking, with views of sand dunes, colorful cemeteries, rice fields, temples, and farmers caring to their water buffalo. The path is largely level and pleasant; expect friendly welcomes and hellos around every bend!

DAY 2 – Dong Ha – Khe Sanh

Cycling distance up to: 60km Difficulty: Medium

Return to the beach and along the coast toward Vinh Moc, stopping in the towns of Cua Tung and Cua Viet along the way. The community of Vinh Moc was sadly located in one of Vietnam’s most extensively hit locations. To avoid the bombardment, the villagers dug around 2.8 kilometers of subterranean tunnels, which they utilized as a haven from the airstrikes. From 1966 to 1971, 300 individuals resided in the tunnels on an irregular basis.

Continue southwest to begin ascending up to the village of Khe Sanh, site of one of the most critical battles of the Vietnam War; the former base now has bunkers, helicopters, and a museum. Pass past ‘Rockpile,’ a steep, isolated peak used by the Americans as a vantage point, and Dakrong Bridge, where access points originally flowed into the Ho Chi Minh Trail.

Overnight in Khe Sanh.

DAY 3 – Khe Sanh – A Luoi

Cycling distance up to: 60-90km Difficulty: Medium

Begin the morning with a tour to the Khe Sanh fighting base, which has war relics and an airfield. Then, from the Laos border to the Dakrong River, ride through stunning terrain, mostly downhill. Cross the river by bridge and ride down the waterway to the Ho Chi Minh Trail’s southern terminus. Today’s ride is a fantastic combination of undulating terrain and wild beauty.

Overnight in A Luoi.

DAY 4 – A Luoi – Hue

Distance and journey time: Cycling distance up to: 70km Difficulty: Medium

Due to terrible roads immediately south of A Luoi, we will deviate from the Ho Chi Minh Trail today and go across the nation to Hue. The 60-kilometer journey into the heart of Vietnam is on rural roads before reaching Highway 1 a few kilometers south of Hue. At this point, you have the choice of switching by road or continue by bike to the heart of Hue.

Once in Hue, the tour and driver will drop you off at your selected accommodation.
