Hidden among old apartment building Nguyen Dinh Chieu’s blocks in Ward Dakao, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City, The Lunch Lady’s noodle soups is a popular place for locals and tourists to enjoy delicious traditional Vietnamese dishes. The famous American chef Anthony Bourdain came to this food stall, he admired the secret recipe and tasty dishes of the owner – Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh. Because the stall only opens from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM to serve lunch, Anthony named it The Lunch Lady. The stall is simple with plastic small tables and chairs. Wooden chopsticks, stainless spoons, tissue, toothpicks, dip bowls, lemon wedges, chili slices, ground chili, fish sauce, soy sauce, chili paste, black soy bean paste, pickled garlic are always available on the tables.
