Mien Dong Bus Station (Eastern Bus Terminal, Bến Xe Miền Đông) is the terminal where lots of buses between Ho Chi Minh City and other provinces in Vietnam start and end. The bus station plays an important part in the economic and tourism development of Ho Chi Minh City and entire Vietnam for dozens of years.

Location: 292 Dinh Bo Linh Street, Ward 26, Binh Thanh District, Ho Chi Minh City. The bus station is bordered by Highway 13, Nguyen Xi, Dinh Bo Linh Streets. The bus station has 6 gates: Gate 1, 2, 3 on Dinh Bo Linh Street, Gate 4, 5 on Highway 13, Gate 6 on an alley which is usually called alley Police of Ward 26. Gate 2 is the main gate and also the biggest one. There are two parking lots, the first is on the left of Gate 1, the second is on the left of Gate 4.

Mien Dong Bus Station features about 70 ticket booths (on the ground floor), Binh An and Xuan Lan supermarkets (on the first floor), office (on the second floor), a waiting house, restrooms, 2 motorbike and car parking lots, a public bus station, a taxi parking.

From the main gate of Eastern Bus Terminal, passengers see a modern three-story building with aluminum and glass facade, signboards read Bến Xe Miền Đông, Nhà Ga Hành Khách (Ben Xe Mien Dong Bus Station). The 1st – 30th ticket booths are located on the left to the main entrance, the 31st – 66th ticket booths are located on the right to the main entrance of the building. Walking upstairs, passengers are lost in two supermarkets Binh An and Xuan Lan. The office of Ben Xe Mien Dong Company is on the second floor of the building. In the photo, passengers get Grab, Go Viet rides to reach the bus station.

Motorbikes are not allowed to go through Gate 5.

Passing through the main gate (Gate 2) and the main entrance of the main building, passengers can see 66 ticket booths on the ground floor of the main building. In addition, there are more than 30 ticket boots are on the left and right to the main gate (not in the main building). Each ticket booth is owned by a transport company providing some routes between Ho Chi Minh City and other provinces.

How to catch a bus from the city center to Mien Dong Bus Station?

In order to reach Mien Dong Bus Station from the city center, passengers can catch Bus No. 45 from Ben Thanh Bus Station (near Ben Thanh Market). More information about Bus No. 45: 27 – 84 seat bus; Operating time: 04:45 – 20:00; Fare: VND 6,000.

History of Ben Xe Mien Dong One Person Company Limited

This bus station was named Xa Cang Mien Dong before 1975, the office was located at 286 Le Hong Phong Street, Ward 1, District 10.

After the Independence Day (30th April 1975), the Committee of Saigon Gia Dinh City assigned the Transport to manage the bus station. On 11th December 1976, Xa Cang Mien Dong Trung Bo was founded. In 1978, Xe Khach Lien Tinh Mien Dong Company was founded and Mien Dong Bus Station was a unit of the company.

In 1981, the government decided to moved Mien Dong Bus Station to Ward 26, Binh Thanh District. The construction was started in 1985 and paused in 1990 when 10 of 19 items was finished.

Since November 1996, Mien Dong Bus Station has been the place to provide transport between Ho Chi Minh City and Southeastern, Central and North Vietnam.

In 2004, Co Khi Giao Thong Van Tai Saigon General Corporation was founded and Ben Xe Mien Dong was a subsidiary of this company. In 2005, Nha Nuoc Ben Xe Mien Dong Company was renamed Ben Xe Mien Dong One Person Company Limited.

New Eastern Bus Station

In 2017, Ho Chi Minh City’s government ordered to build a new Eastern Bus Station at 39448 Xa Lo Ha Noi Highway, Binh An Ward, District 9. CLICK HERE to see the location of the bus station on Google Maps. The total investment is VND 4,000 billion. This bus station has a capacity for 21,000 passengers and 1,200 buses per day. It can serve up to 52,000 passengers and 1,200 buses per day on high seasons, holidays and festivals.

At the end of 2019, the construction of the new bus station was completed. However, it has not begun operations. The information will be updated.
