Itinerary of Non Touristy Mekong Delta Tour
Mattress workshop – Non Touristy Mekong Delta Tour
Start your journey after being picked up at 8 AM pickup from your hotel in District 1 – the center of Ho Chi Minh City. Head to Long An Province in the Mekong Delta Region instead of Cai Be or Ben Tre in other normal Mekong Delta Tour.
After a 1.5-hour car drive, arrive at a local family’s orchid farm to admire hundreds of types of coloful and beautiful orchids from different countries. You also learn how the plants are grown by talented gardeners.
Afterwards, hop on a rowing boat, paddle along the network of small canals and see local people going about their daily lives (going to markets, taking their children to schools, going to work, attending parties,…). Next, cruise along the Mekong River on a motorized boat while enjoying fresh coconut water.
Ride bicycle along the countryside road lined with coconut trees, aceca palm trees, rice fields, and fruit farms. On the road, children cycle to school and farmers harvest rice, fruits, vegetables. There are lots of interesting things to see and I will let you to discover yourself on the tour.
Arriving at a local market after nearly 1-hour cycling, buy tropical fruits from the street vendors at your wish with the help of the friendly tour guide.
Cao Dai Temple is a great place and we should not miss it because you will learn about Hoa Hoa religion which is originated in Vietnam and having lots of strange rules. In addition, the architecture of the temple is very unique and worth a visit.
Then, bike to a local restaurant for lunch with a set menu of Vietnamese cuisine (vegan food option is available). Continue the journey by heading off to a local mattress workshop where to see how they make mattresses from reeds.
Return back in Ho Chi Minh City center at around 4.30 PM.
