Xiem Can Pagoda in Bac Lieu: More than 10 kilometers from the heart of Bac Lieu City, in the Vinh Trach Dong Commune, the Xiem Can Pagoda was constructed in 1887. The pagoda has the marks of Khmer architecture from Angkor. Xiem Can is distinguished from the other pagodas in Bac Lieu by its size and architectural design.
Each of the walls, roofs, steps, and pillars of Siam Can are exquisitely designed, making a difference compared to other ordinary pagodas. The Xiem Can Pagoda’s main hall is square-shaped. An approximately two-meter-tall semicircular platform with several steps for worshiping Gautama Buddha is located in the center of the main hall.
When entering the inner campus, visitors can be immersed in the beauty of Siam Can. The pagoda is surrounded by courtyards, gardens, and trees, creating a peaceful and quiet atmosphere.
Xiem Can Pagoda has just been recognized as a typical regional tourist destination by the Mekong Delta Tourism Association. This place is not only a place of religious activities of the Khmer people but also attracts hundreds of tourists every day. Although not the oldest Khmer temple in the Mekong Delta, Siam Can is always worth a visit because of its sophisticated patterns and unique architecture.
