Journey of Mekong River Cruise from Cai Be to Can Tho

We will pick you up at your hotel in Saigon (district 1 and parts of district 3) and take you back there after your cruise. The time to drive to/from Cai Be will take about 2 hours, to/from Can Tho about 4 hours.

We will cruise from Cai Be to Can Tho with a visit to Cai Rang Floating Market.

You will board your comfortable river cruiser in Cai Be. After a refreshing welcome drink, we will show you our onboard facilities and your cozy cabin. After lunch is served, the boat starts cruising. You will have an opportunity to admire the fantastic scenery and the daily life of the Mekong Delta people.

In the afternoon, you can disembark for a guided leisurely walk through a village and the surrounding orchards or rice fields. you get to communicate with the friendly locals and sample the local produce and fruits.

And then we will get back on board and enjoy a drink at the bar or relax on deck when the sun sets over the magnificent water scenery of the Mekong River. The cruiser will anchor and a delicious onboard dinner will be served. You will have a peaceful sleep on board in the river.

On the second day, you will wake up and listen to the sound of the river and be ready for another interesting day of sightseeing in the Mekong Delta. At 6.30h, the cruise vessel will depart for a sunrise cruise. We will get to witness the locals drying exotic fruits and building ships on the wooden yards while we enjoy an early breakfast.

After breakfast, we will board a sampan to Cai Rang Floating Market, which is the busiest and most lively floating market in the Mekong Delta. You will feel surprised at the abundance of fruits, vegetables, and skilfully handcrafted regional products. We will be able to pull up to the boats for talking and bargaining with the merchants. After the excursion to the market, we will start the journey back to Saigon. From Can Tho, we will travel by road back to Saigon. In My Tho, you will say goodbye to the Mekong Delta with a lunch break with typical Mekong Delta dishes at Mekong Rest Stop.

N. B.: The floating markets in the Mekong Delta region are no tourist markets but wholesale markets, where typical produce of the Mekong Delta like fruits and vegetables are traded. For this reason, the number of boats on the market fluctuates up to harvesting seasons and market demand. Moreover, modern wholesale markets are becoming more and more popular in Vietnam, which can result in decreasing numbers of boats being present on the markets.

The first day

08.00 – 08.30: Picking up at your hotel in Saigon. (District 1 and parts of District 3) (only included for those pax using the shuttle service).
11.30: Boarding of the cruise vessel and checking in.
12.00: Cruising to see panorama and lunch on board around 13.00
16.00: Guided land excursion – walking in orchards and small villages.
17.30: Returning to the boat for refreshment and to enjoy the sunset on the top deck.
19.00: Having dinner on board, overnight on board.

The second day

07.00: Taking morning cruise and taking morning tea break served on board.
08.00: Checking out of the cabin. Excursing on a long sampan to Cai Rang floating market and noodle-producing family.
11.00: Departing to Saigon / ending of the tour.
