History, building and architecture
SC VivoCity Shopping Mall is Phase 1 of Saigon South Place – a complex of SC Vivo City, 3 office buildings and 2 serviced apartment buildings with an area of 4.4 ha and the total investment value of 100 million US dollars in District 7, Ho Chi Minh City. SC VivoCity in Ho Chi Minh City was inspired by the awarded VivoCity Shopping Mall in Singapore.
The construction of the building was started in March 2012. The building has a total floor area of 72,000 m2 including 5 floors above ground with a total area of 64,000 m2 and 1 basement with a total area of 8,000 m2. SC VivoCity Shopping Mall has been opened since April 2015. A grand opening of the mall has been announced on 20th May, 2015. The spaces on floors above ground are for rent, the basement is used as parking.

The shopping mall has a free outdoor playground for kids on the 5th floor. The Vivo Playground is a wet and dry children’s play area with aquatips, aquazooka, curved wallholla, speeder, hill with crawling tubes, mega trampoline, spray zone with water, jets, spica, especially the vivid 3-D wall mural which narrates the traditional Vietnamese legend of the Mountain God and River God.
