Cho Lon Bus Station, Ho Chi Minh City

Cho Lon Bus Station was one of the biggest bus stations in Ho Chi Minh City and is one of the biggest public bus in the city. It plays an important role in the passenger transport around Saigon (former name of Ho Chi Minh City), connects Cho Lon – a hustle and bustle trading center with other parts of the city.

History

Before 2007, Cho Lon Bus Station operates buses between Ho Chi Minh City and Tien Giang, Long An. On 20th May 2007, 26 bus routes from Ho Chi Minh to Tien Giang and Long An was moved to Mien Tay Bus Station (Western Bus Terminal). Today, it functions as Public Bus Operation Center in Cho Lon area, managed and operated by Management and Operation Center for Public Transport.

Location: 46 Le Quang Sung Street, Ward 26, Binh Thanh District, Ho Chi Minh City. The bus station is bordered by Trang Tu, Nguyen Thi Nho, Chu Van An, Le Quang Sung Streets. It is situated in the center of Saigon China Town and only a few minute walk away from Binh Tay Market – one of the must-see attractions in the area, Ong Bon Pagoda, Trang Tu Market, Phung Hung Market, lantern street (decoration street), Kim Bien Market, etc.

The main gate is located on the crowded Le Quang Sung Street. Passengers can easily recognize the gate with two red square pillars and the signboard read GA HÀNH KHÁCH XE BUÝT CHỢ LỚN. The bus station is rather old. Buses pass through the gate regularly, motorbike taxi drivers wait around the gate so that passengers should watch out here.

How to catch a bus from the city center to Cho Lon Bus Station?

Passengers should catch Bus No. 1 from Ben Thanh Bus Station to Cho Lon Bus Station. More information about Bus No. 1:

Operating time: 05:00 – 20:30; Fare: VND 5,000; Trip time: 35 minutes; Trip spacing: 8 – 15 minutes.

Passengers should be careful while catching a bus at this busy bus station where pickpockets and snatch thieves are popular. The staffs and people around speak limited English but you can find guards if you need urgent help.
